Before & After: Operation Palma
How do H&W team members spend their vacations? Helping friends and family with their wallpapering needs, of course! Recently our fabulous designer, Ola, spent some time in Dublin, Ireland, helping her sister, Magda, bring more joy into her living room with Palma (Sand) wallpaper.
Coincidentally (or not?), Ola designed this charming and calming pattern for our collaboration with Lawson-Fenning, so it was an extra special install, indeed. Let's take a look at more process shots to see if we can glean any wallpapering tips!
The first strip is always the hardest because you have to mentally warm up to the idea that you have, in fact, started a wallpaper project while on vacation. Plus, it's critical to get the first strip straight. Always make sure the first strip is on the wall as straight as possible by using a level, or else your wallpaper can quickly go wonky as you install subsequent strips.
Leave about an inch of wallpaper to trim at the corner, which helps ensure overall straightness.
Match the second strip at eye level.
And hug those seams (but don't let them overlap)!
BEFORE...
And AFTER—oh, what a difference a roll of wallpaper can make! And a bright yellow chair is always a good idea too. Nice work, Ola and Magda!
