How we make
our wallpaper
our wallpaper
Hygge & West is a boutique wallpaper and home goods company that believes in the power of pattern to help people express themselves, bring joy into their lives, and create happy, beautiful homes. We know the best patterns tell a story, while leaving plenty of room to create your own.
In 2008, lifelong friends Aimee Lagos and Christiana Coop founded Hygge & West with the goal of creating well designed, affordably priced, accessible wallpaper. By collaborating with like-minded artists, designers, illustrators, and brands, we create exclusive collections of wallpapers, bedding, and shower curtains. We’ve proudly built meaningful, design-forward relationships with some of the most respected names in the industry, including CB2, Schoolhouse, Heath Ceramics, Justina Blakeney, Rifle Paper Co., Julia Rothman, PATCH NYC, Coral & Tusk, and more. Pattern is important, but so are the people behind it.
At the heart of what we do is quality. We rely on the mastery of other small businesses to create the exceptional, high-end product that has made us one of the premier brands in our industry: our wallpapers are hand screen printed on American-made paper by our Chicago-based printer; our bedding and shower curtains are made by a family-owned company in Portugal; and everything is meticulously packaged in our family-operated Wisconsin warehouse.
But a great product is nothing without customers. We strive to create authentic connections that inspire the people who support our company. That’s why we showcase our products in real spaces by real people—photographs from happy customers make up the majority of our online content. It’s also what led us to publish our first book, Hygge & West Home: Design for a Cozy Life, in 2018, featuring unique homes, in-depth interviews, and accessible tips for making a cozy life. Both online and off, pattern forges connection, and it’s important to us to do the same.
Aimee Lagos, Co-Founder
Aimee leads product design and development and brings the items you purchase from H&W to life by collaborating with well-known artists, brands, and companies, as well as our talented manufacturers. The less glamorous side of her job involves managing all things logistical and financial.
Christiana Coop, Co-Founder
Christiana oversees the customer-facing brand experience—social media, customer service, marketing, PR, and more—which fits well with her passion for design, love of photography, and people-pleasing tendencies. It’s the highlight of her day to see people enjoying H&W patterns in their own homes.
Ola Supernat, Creative Director
Ola was H&W’s first full-time employee. She is responsible for creating a consistent brand experience across web, print, and packaging. She also designed several of our wallpaper collections—an opportunity that she considers one of the ultimate highlights of her career.
